Oil Spill Grant

MIPC has successfully applied for federal money to do remedial work on the island. A total of $93K has been allocated for various tasks, including a cane toad sniffing dog, assessing and removal of weeds from the ocean beach campsites from Middle Road north and regeneration of areas disturbed by the clean-up. This is to be completed by June 2010.

There will be a number of weekends over this period when volunteers will be required. Please see the 'What's On' page for details which will be posted when available.

Envirofund project

This has now wound up and has been considered a great success with many weed plants either eliminated completely or having been reduced to very low levels. Regular monitoring and follow-up work will be required but the hard yards have been done. We appreciate all the support and assistance from the island and Manly based rangers.

A link to the final report is available on the 'Volunteers' page.

MIPC members now have personal accident cover through the Dept. of Natural Resources
